Letters from the Benches
Publication Design
While walking through a local park, I discovered benches engraved with short memorial messages—quiet tributes to loved ones, embedded in everyday public space. These inscriptions felt like personal letters left behind by strangers. This project documents and numbers the benches along my walking route and reimagines each as a letter: including photographs, transcribed messages, envelopes, stamps, and blank stationery, accompanied by a map that traces their locations. The outcome is a visual archive that invites viewers to engage with memory and emotion in shared urban environments. Through this project, I explore the narrative potential of informal memorials and how design can facilitate emotional resonance and public reflection.
