What to Take? What to Leave?

Publication DesignMy home in London is a 15m2 student accommodation. Approaching my departure, I began going through the things I lived with, deciding what would come with me and what must remain. This selection was not just logistical, but emotional, a quiet reckoning with memory and belonging. The objects I couldn’t take became silent witnesses to my time in London: a hurried morning, a sleepless night, a conversation left unfinished. I documented them in an inventory list, wrapping their fleeting presence in words—offering them a place to remain, if only on paper.
我在伦敦的家是一间十五平方米的学生公寓。临近搬离之时，我开始一件件地整理屋内的物品，反复斟酌哪些能随我一同离开，哪些注定要被留下。这场筛选不仅关乎行李容量，更是一次对记忆与归属的细微判断。那些带不走的物件，承载着我在伦敦生活的片段：某个慌乱的清晨、一段静默的夜晚、一场未完成的对话。我用自述的方式，将它们以清单的方式记录，在文字中轻轻包裹它们短暂而真实的存在——为它们留下一处停驻的空间，即便只是纸上的片刻。

* Paging the City Trilogy
A nongtang, a scaffolded façade, a departing room—Paging the City is my research project developed during the MA Graphic Communication Design course at Central Saint Martins. This publishing trilogy traces disappearing urban spaces across Shanghai and London through the lens of personal and collective memory. Each publication unfolds as a spatial narrative: large-format folds, horizontal sequencing, and accordion structures translate emotional and spatial experiences of dwelling, departure, and transformation into editorial form. The project reflects the perspective of temporary residents navigating shifting urban conditions, and offers attentive possibilities for design to engage more meaningfully with local contexts.
一座弄堂、一面脚手架包裹的立面、一间即将搬离的房间。《翻阅城市》是我在中央圣马丁平面传达设计硕士期间展开的研究项目。项目以三本出版物串联起上海与伦敦两座城市，借由个体与集体记忆，记录那些正在消失的城市空间。每一本书都是一段空间叙事的实践：横向翻页、大幅折叠、手风琴式结构……这些编排方式不仅回应了城市中的居住与迁移经验，也让阅读本身成为一场对空间的漫游。《翻阅城市》聚焦于那些在城市中短暂停留的人们，以一种更细腻的方式思考设计如何介入流动、变化与在地日常。
